Antrone "Juice" Moore

Antrone "Juice" Moore

Juice grew up in the same South Side Chicago neighborhood as NBA Champion Antoine Walker, formerly of the Boston Celtics. Raised by his Mother, Grandmother and Auntie, Juice started playing basketball at age 5.  He went on to play at Lincoln University in Missouri for Coach Bill Pope, currently an NBA scout.  He transferred to the University of Maine at Presque Isle and Augusta.  While at UMA, he led the USCAA in scoring and was named to the Division II All America Team. After graduation, he advanced to a semi-pro career playing for teams such as the Lake County Lakers, Windy City Monarchs and Harlem Ambassadors. He began his coaching career for Team Forth Worth, an AAU team in Fort Worth Texas.

Shortly after returning to Augusta, Juice suffered a massive stroke at age 37.  First given only a 50/50 chance of survival and then facing a lifetime of confinement to a wheelchair, Juice regained his health through sheer force of will, a healthy lifestyle and rigorous exercise.  Not only was Juice able to learn to walk again, he is often seen running down the court while playing basketball in local leagues or at the YMCA. Juice is on the court with his players during team practices and skills and drills sessions.

Juice established "Take it to the Rim" basketball clinics through the Augusta Recreation Department and has served as a volunteer coach.  He is a Peer Navigator for Maine General Health in Augusta, inspiring other stroke patients with his positive example.  In addition, Juice volunteers for the Maine Heart Association and Stroke Association. Recently, he has coached for the Blue Waves, an AAU basketball organization in Portland, Maine.  The father of two girls, Takila and Keyanna, Juice volunteers with the company Helping Others Win and resides in Bowling Green.
